Wedding bells

Here are some photos I took during Mandy's wedding.

Mandy and the lucky bastard as known as her husband.

The couple just scooted by our table without "yam-senging" us. Too much I tell you.

Those who came with partners: Graham, Chae Eun, Jesse, Amelia, Winnie and Johann

Those who din, including me of course: Weng and Joe Jee

Me copping a feel of the bride for the very last time... sigh...

Woah...

I was reading this interview with funk legend, George Clinton. In the interview, he mentioned this excerpt he read in a book before.

"White middle America is just now finding out that it's not blacks on welfare that's their problem, it's not the gays, it's not pro- or anti- abortion. Middle America is just now finding out that the people in power don't give a fuck about them either. That Oklahoma City bombing was very fucking strange. I read this book called Behold A Pale Horse by William Cooper. He was a de-briefer in naval intelligence. He went AWOL in the late 80s and he faxed a manuscript of the book to about 1500 entertainers and media people. Now the book is out, but I had the manuscript since 1987. It says the Wall of Berlin is coming down, Russia was going pop! And people would start blowing up airports and buildings in the United States. They were going to tell you that it was terrorists that did it, and it was going to be the government themselves who were doing it. On page 160 it says that Oklahoma will be the test city for the new world order martial law concept - this was written in 1987!

So when the World Trade Center was blown up it was very suspicious - and then the Waco incident and the Oklahoma bombing. He said they're gonna attack the patriots and wear them out, and pit them against other people by calling them white supremists, when most of them are just plain pissed off because they lost their farm. Think about it! That's a lot of people. It's not like a few black people this time, it's your average American farmer, and when you do it to him, he's not going to roll over. They're gonna pick up the flag and the Bible and it's revolution time. By calling them white supremists and all those names... Too many of them were just regular straight people who were not that yet. When it got really stupid they were saying that black street gangs were going to help the police. They're already pissed at the blacks because of the ones on welfare, but by the time they hear that! And they make the blacks mad by calling them white supremists... You've got the makings of a nice little war going on. And they'll keep each other busy while whoever did it creeps on off."

You know what's really interesting about this interview. It was published in September 1995.

Check the rest of it out here.

Fantastic Foursome...

I've never been a fan of Marvel Comics' "Fantastic Four". Alwya thought it was pretty boring. But I love Jessica Alba like the next hot-blooded male. She'd cast as Sue Storm/ Richards aka The Invisible Woman in the movie.

I could definitely get used to the blonde look.

I have had any doubts about her filling out a skin-tight costume...

12 bars blues

Went out scouting possible venues to organise a gig with Sujin today. Found this pub but I think the owner wouldn't like the idea very much.

We ended up jamming with the band which was made up of folks who just strolled in and pick up an instrument to play. We jammed a 12 bars blues which I fucked it up as usual. I can't play without delay maaan...

Okay...

Everyone knows I hate teaching tuition. I bitch about it all the time.

Anyway, I'm teaching Sec. 2 Science as well. Yeah, I know. Conning the parent and kid. Anyhow, the next chapter I'm covering with the kid is "The Reproductive System". Yes, I'm gonna teach sex education to a 14 year-old boy...

On a more sombre note, this following incident took place when I was walking to Yeeyong's place to meet him and Alvin. Being my usual self, I forgot to bring my lighter and had to ask a light from a guy who asked me for directions. It just so happened that we were heading towards the same direction.

So we chatted a little. He asked me what I'd do for a living. And I found out that he's a dishwasher. Started complaining a little. But he was thankful he had a job and all. My suspicions were that he's an ex-con. Had some tattoos and all.

I asked him where he was headed. He mentioned he was visiting his sister. When I inquired where he stayed, he said he had no parents and no home. I was like, "Fuck, where you sleep man!??!"

He just smiled, saying that he slept under HDB blocks and all. At least, he had a job, unlike several of his friends...

Shit... I feel thankful for once I have a house.

The Hangover Club

Found this while I was doing research for my Aging Youth website.

The Hangover Club. Yeah... I think they offer some free membership..which gets you something slighly not as good as free beer... discounted beer.

Anderson and Butler

I'm a huge fan of the works of both men. More of their collaborative work in Suede. Bernard Butler did not meet that much commercial success like Brett Anderson and the rest of Suede did. (Butler left Suede amidst the recording of the group's 2nd album, "Dog Man Star".) However, Butler did achieve a certain amount of critical success during his tenure in McAlmont & Butler. Personally, I thought that was incredible, way much better than the latter day dumbed-down Suede.

Butler had always expressed regret, being unable to finish what they had done 10 years ago with the amazing "Dog Man Star". So did Anderson as documented in several interviews with NME. Well, 2 men are on the last leg of their careers. This musical partnership had been seen as one of the best since Lennon and McCartney or Morrissey and Marr. It's not without fanfare when Anderson and Butler announced their reunion, having made up earlier this year. Now, they are almost done with the recording with their album.

To be honest, I'm not too that excited about the reunion and am sorta waiting for it with a ho-hum attitude of "Let's see how thye would fuck this up". But to be honest, it's still an album that I'm looking forward to get. I'm feeling nostalgic for my youth once again.

Read the NME article here

Check out the photos of the sessions here

This is so F.U.B.A.R. that there's no other word to describe it...

As some of you might have already known, MediaCorp and Singapore Press Holdings have just declared a consolidation into one singular media company. Yes, everyone in da house, say it with me now. WHAT THE FUCK!?

What was all that stinkin' crap we heard a couple of years ago regarding introducing competition in the local media industry. Ah well, the Ministry of Information Technology and Arts can say whatever they want. It's back to the good old days of just one single TV company and one single press company. But hey, now we have it even better. They are all one big family now!! Everything under one roof! All TV stations will go to MediaCorps and so will Streats. I should think that SPH will be still keeping the Straits Times eh?

What can I say? It doesn't really change things very much, does it? We never really had a free press anyway to begin with.

Chekkit.

BarNone

Was at Lilia's band, morphy's 2nd album launch last night with membersss, Sujin. Bumped into Seong Huat and his missus.

It was a pretty rockin' set, closing the night with a rousing cover of The Animals' 'House Of The Rising Sun'. I'm too arsed to write a full review but it was great fun and we had free beer.

So it definitely rawked.

Aging Youth...
Y'know you are really getting old when you sprained your back carrying your equipment to go jamming. The situation worsened when I had to quickly bend down to change the parameters on the pedals on the fly. Shit, I can't walk fast now.

I am truly an Aging Youth...

Fuck.

Brand new...

Stephen Chow's new movie trailer, "Kungfu". It's not like we haven't seen it before.

Chekkit.

Cantopop

Y'know me, I can't speak Cantonese or listen to Cantopop. But Faye Wong still rawks.

Here's a white guy trying to break into the Hong Kong Cantopop scene. Yeah, you read it right. White guy. It's pretty good journalism... and it covers a bit of the underground scene in the Fragrant Harbour as well. Watch it and y'know we are not alone...

Chekkit chekkit...

I'm still alive...

According to some friends who asked why I'm not blogging as much...

I'm still alive.

And the new issue of the Aging Youth web-zine is out. Chekkit chekkit... and J-O aka Jason Ong was telling me that you cannot write that much about Singaporean music! HA! But then, I dunno what the hell's gonna happen on issue 20 though. Hmmm...

Overtly busy with my current extra-cirriculum activities that I have hardly sit down and reflect upon my life in general and hence, writing long and pensive blog entries about how I've gained an epiphany in life by watching lil bluebirds fly across the window.

HA! Fuck off!!! You won't get that in this blog!

Beer anyone?!?!

Stripper needed...

Yeah, my friend who's getting married at the end of the month wants a Pan-Asian stripper who is circumised for her hen's party. So if you have any lobang, drop me a note.

No transsexuals please.

Yeah, I'm invited along as well, along with some other male friends. We are hoping that there will be some girl-on-girl action or something along the lines...

New H.A.I.R., New Month...

Scarlett Johansson is what I like to refer to as full-bodied. Well, she has a classy, elegant look as well. Anyway, she's pretty skanky too, if you believe the tabloids about her , well, exploits... (internal rhyme... woo hoo...)

Anyhow, a friend of mine is looking for freelance scriptwriters and some graphic animation artists for some video project. If any of you guys are interested, drop me a note or something. I'd try to hook you guys up.
